Echinacea purpurea is commonly referred to as purple coneflower due to its prominent seed cone and purple flower petals. The genus name Echinacea is derived from the Greek “echinos” which translates as hedgehog and refers to the appearance of the spiny seed head. Out of the nine species of echinacea found in North America, Echinacea purpurea is one of the most commonly cultivated.

Echinacea as a whole plant was used extensively in Native American indigenous healing traditions and by folk herbalists alike for generations. Historically, echinacea root was employed in topical applications and to support healthy immune function. It is now one of the most available dietary supplements in health food stores and continues to be a subject of many scientific studies. Echinacea supports immune health to help you stay feeling your best and supports the body’s immune defenses to stay feeling healthy.*

Our echinacea tincture is made with fresh, organic root at the Mountain Rose extract facility. The liquid extract has the quintessential tingling of the tongue and is rather neutral in flavor. Echinacea root extract can be combined with an array of botanicals but some of our favorites to blend with include yellow dock extract, calendula extract, and Oregon grape root extract. This easy to dispense format is convenient for adding an extra dose of botanical excellence to smoothies, juices, and herbal teas such as turmeric ginger tea or vita-blend tea.
